Better Inhalation Strategies & Breathing Mechanics for a more Mobile Thorax
During this current COVID-19 outbreak that we are all going through - we now all know that the primary problem with this form of coronavirus is it's impact on the respiratory system.
One of the main differences between the symptoms of COVID-19 and the flu or other types of viruses is it's ability to create shortness of breath as a primary driver for hospitalization. Simply put - it makes it more difficult for you to breathe.
We decided to put this little video together to show you how we can breathe into the back of our thorax/ribcage and through the backs of our lungs - a region that is highly underutilized when we breathe normally.
When we are stressed we breathe primarily through the front/top of our ribs and chest and also use excessive anterior neck muscles to raise the chest. This is called apical breathing. What that does is reduce your ability to inhale and fill the back of your ribcage and/or the back portion of your lungs. This tissue becomes rigid over time and starts to limit your capacity to expand through the back of your thorax.
Take a look and please reach out with any questions. #movehealchange

    Can anterior hip capsule tightness limit hip internal rotation, or only posterior hip capsule tightness does that? Thanks.

    Do feet need to be against the wall for sensory feedback?

    • @totalptnj
      @totalptnj 2 роки тому

      Yes - this is a 5y.o. Video so now I would def. Start by putting my feet on wall and use those hamstrings to posterior lumbar tilt that pelvis . This variation is good for better sense of the hamstrings though.

    Anterior pelvic tilt doesnt mean your hamstrings are long. You can have hip extension posture and yet your lower back is very arched. In this setup psoas is extremly lenghten and the last thing u want to do is stretching hip flexors and strenghtening hamstrings. It's not black and white - unfortunatelly.

      It's a breathing exercise. Bad breathing pattern can cause us to fall into bad posture. Turns out a lot of us don't know how to breathe or have just fallen into a bad pattern. Look up Neal Hallinan and you'll understand why most people are right handed and how you can align your body

    All i know is femoral nerve pain is off the Richter scale. I would literally wake up in the middle of the night screaming. It started with a slight pain in the pelvic area. Complete numbness in the entire thigh except for the unbearable pain. Thank God it subsides after a few minutes.

    😂 I'm laughing so hard because he's complaining about how "flat" his arches are, like excuse me? My arches are so flat that the entirety of my foot touches the ground-- Not only do I need orthotics I need surgery, painful reconstructive surgery I HAD to have. Frankly his claim that standing parallel makes it "hard" to allow your arch to collapse PROVES that he doesn't actually have flat feet. When you have flat feet, that shit happens completely naturally, you don't get a choice, parrellel stance or not. I gave flat feet and forcing the muscles to contract to create the arch is not only ineffective, it is incredibly painful to do so for mkre than a couple minutes. This method will ONLY work for people that do not have any actual symptoms from their arches, so that they barely have to try to maintain that position.

    I have a question. If you have your third and fourth toe always numb when you wake up, could this be due to a femoral or sciatic nerve problem?

    • @bonovox2527
      @bonovox2527 6 років тому

      It can. What's most likely is that some of your soft tissues (hip rotators) are pinching the sciatic nerve because you're lying on them. I would roll out the hip region with a foam roller or lacrosse ball and maybe do this nerve gliding as well and report back. lmk how it goes

    • @bonovox2527
      @bonovox2527 6 років тому

      it depends where it cramps. Does it cramp on the front thigh muscle (quadricep?) lmk if you've been experiencing tingling and/or numbness in that thigh. As long as the cramping goes away then I wouldn't worry about it

The severity of the pain got to the point that taking pills every 12 hours is essential to ease the discomfort. It was TERRIBLE. I found great joy after sticking to this plantar fasciitis treatment solution “Sαnzοkα Mula” (Google it). I`m a whole lot better, pain free.
